Over the past few years, you may have heard some of the countries have UNESCO awards about cultural heritage. Not surprising. According to UNESCO, Batik has awarded on October 2nd, 2009, and as icon nation from Indonesia.

This award raises the impact on economic and social-cultural. It made the new role of batik as International diplomacy and in the world level as a commodity which preserves Indonesian Culture, currently around 5849 motif batik in Indonesia based on data collection Bandung Fe and Sobat Budaya. It counts from Aceh to Papua. And compare with any country that also produces batik, Indonesia is the richest country that has 5849 motif Batik.

What is Solo Batik Carnival, and How Does it Work? The Solo Batik Carnival or known as SBC is an annual carnival held in Solo City, Indonesia or well known as The City of Batik. The word “carnival” here is a festivities with a parade around the city with the dancers in extraordinary costumes with Indonesian motif of batik.

As the city of Batik, Solo Batik Carnival is a celebrate with 305 contestant that allows contestant creativity to show Batik costume like the theme of Astamurti Kawijayan the theme of the carnival means the symbol of glory. Also, there is a workshop with 235 contestants.

There are six subthemes in this event “Sekar Jagad (batik patterns symbolizing beauty), Wayang (shadow puppets), Topeng Panji (masks symbolizing purity), Legenda (legends), Mustika Jawa Dwipa (Javanese heritage costumes), and Jatayu (mythical beings).

1.High level of security from the Indonesian military and police

Before carnival start walking around the city, the event starts with the Indonesian flag ceremony and play Indonesian Song. This event is secured by the police and military of Indonesia.

2. The contestant from any age because no restriction of age to join the carnival

The costume is well designed for this event by the contestant.  The contestant of Solo Batik Carnival is from kids, teenager and from university student especially ISI Surakarta.

A thousand of International and national visitor come to Jl. Slamet Riyadi in Surakarta, Central Java. To celebrate Javanese culture glory days.

3. The beautiful costume inspired by Indonesian motif batik

If you look carefully the design of the costume is awesome. Full of detail of Javanese motif batik. The concept is really legit as you can see, the use of the material, composition, color, and the motif is conceptual.

The abstraction of flower and animal show in the costume. Repetition of symbol that represents local genius wisdom.

4. Free tour around the city with no car on the road

There is a horse car with a driver wearing a complete Javanese costume. A horse car with Javanese Kingdom logo, decoration like a car for the prince and full of Javanese ornament.

The road is blocked from the route that they gonna use for carnival. Around the city and come back to the center point of the carnival.

5. Traditional Dance, Live Music and many more

The carnival started in the morning at 09:00 until night at around 11:00. In there you can watch dance and live music performance. And if you are hungry in there is a lot of street food booth.

They provide local art stores that offered an astonishing range of merchandise and good to be bought to home.
